Dublin: A Lot of History with Welcoming People

This city is one of the main destinations of tourists in Europe as everyone wants to catch a glimpse of the Irish beauty while experiencing the pub culture. And with good reason. The people are some of the friendliest that I have ever met, the food is great, and the old Irish beauty and culture is wonderful. So here are some great things to do in the city.

St. Patrick's Cathedral

10. Kilmainham Gaol: although this attraction has a dark past, it has been attracting many visitors for years. As the former jail of the Irish Revolution, this is a creepy thing to do in the city. Yet so many people go every year. So you want to head there to see what the big deal is all about, and during this visit, you learn so much about Irish history.

9. Little Museum of Dublin: this museum offers a great insight in the city's past. From old books published in the city, to some famous icons, such as U2, this museum blend pop culture and old history to offer a unique perspective of the city and the culture.

8. St. Stephen's Green: for a great getaway on a summer day away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this park in the city center offers just that. With a small lake and trees in abundance, it is a great place to enjoy nature and maybe even have a picnic.

7. Old Jameson Distillery: this whiskey tour is a popular thing to do for whiskey lovers. And while people think it's a booze tour, instead it focuses on the process of producing Jameson. And at the end you get to try a small sample. For lovers of this product, this tour is a must, but for those of you like me, it is still a fun experience.

6. Guiness Storehouse: like the Old Jameson Distillery, this tour is more than just about drinking. The tour begins by explaining the history, then continues to explain how it the flavors blend together to make the drink. At the end you learn how to pour the perfect pint and then you get to drink your pint.

5. St. Patrick's Cathedral: everyone knows about St. Patrick and the story of Ireland, so of course St. Patrick's Cathedral attracts many people every year. And rightfully so as it is a beautiful cathedral. Though seemingly simple yet beautiful on the outside, the inside has architecture and tranquil beauty.

4. Trinity College Library: this world famous library houses some very important documents to Irish history but also history in general. With its old collection of documents and books, you would think that this library couldn't offer anything else. But then you go inside and become amazed by the architecture and beauty of the library itself.

3. Try a Pub: pubs are part of the culture in Ireland, so stopping by for a pint and some good food is a great experience. There are so many different ones to try, each one with a different feel. And in these pubs you can try some Irish classics and get to know the incredibly nice locals.

2. Dublin Castle: in the land famous for castles and rolling green hills, visiting a castle in Ireland is a must. Luckily, Dublin has its own castle. And this castle is unique as it it not tucked away on some mountain top and there are no moats.

1. Temple Bar: stroll through this lovely neighborhood for a picturesque view of Dublin. When many people think of Ireland, they think of streets filled with cute little pubs. And Temple Bar offers just that as the streets are lined with well manicured flowers and colorful pub names.

I have not been to Kilmainham Gaol but it sounds so interesting, I am definitely adding to this to my next trip there.

  8. It's funny that you mention the pub culture because this is always the first thing I think of when I think of Dublin! I'm yet to visit but i'm keen to check out both the Jameson Distillery and the Guinness Brewery (is this making me sound like an alcoholic?). The museum and churches sound great too though!
