How to Rock that Parisian Style

It's no secret that Paris is one of the fashion capitals of the world. People look to Paris for it's style. And it's not just celebrities in Paris that are dressing as if they're on the runway. It's everyone. Paris has a style that is both classy and chic, edgy and tasteful. So finding the perfect balance is hard. So here is what I've observed about that Parisian style.

Don't

Don't get too colorful. Paris style is all about toning down the colors. People tend to stick to blacks, browns, grays, and navy blues. They don't wear bright red, yellow, purple, green, etc. If they wear color, it's a soft color paired with black.

Do

Know that black does not mean goth. The Parisians pair blacks very nicely. They'll add a touch of color to make it not so goth looking. They also know that a well styled fully black outfit is not goth, it's edgy and in style.

Don't

Don't worry if it looks a little punk rock. Right now the style is black boots which sometimes resemble a toned down combat boot. Black leather jackets are also in style. When wearing the outfits together, they look a little punk rock, and that's ok because Paris likes to be edgy.

Do

When in doubt, look to Chanel. If you're worried your outfit may be a little too punk rock, look to Chanel for inspiration. No you don't have to buy their clothes, but when in doubt, Chanel is always a model for fashion. A pair of cute flats, feminine blouse and some black pants are essentials to a Parisian's wardrobe.

Don't

Don't forget the accessories. The Parisians by high quality clothing which means they don't have many different options. To avoid redundancy, they have accessories to change up an outfit. The French love scarves, which can be seen in almost any outfit. Necklaces, earrings, and hats also make a regular appearance.

Do

Go light on the makeup. I have to say, I rarely see major contouring here in Paris. I barely even see heavy eye shadow and eye liner. Usually it's enough mascara to make your eyes pop but not too much to make it look unnatural. Most Parisians are about that natural beauty and accentuating their best features rather than plaster everything with makeup.
