San Francisco: Every European's Favorite West-Coast City

When talking to Europeans, they always explain how much they loved San Francisco or how much they want to go and see it. San Francisco is a city full of beauty, discoveries, and history. There is something for everyone and it is absolutely beautiful on a sunny day. Even though San Francisco can be expensive, it is worth the cost to see this city on a hill. Here are some great things to do.

10. Painted Ladies: whenever people think of San Francisco, one of the things they think about is the TV show Full House and the houses in the intro. The painted ladies are the houses that are filmed. Whether or not you are a Full House fan, the painted ladies are a great way to see some old San Francisco houses still in the city center.

9. Chinatown: this is probably one of the most famous Chinatowns in the US. Stretching quite a few blocks in the city center, there are plenty of things to see and do. Depending on the time of year, it is also heavily decorated and quite beautiful.

8. Japanese Tea Garden: this peaceful oasis in the city center is a great way to admire Japanese architecture and enjoy a warm day in the city. The large green park makes it feel like you are no longer in the bustling city center and is a nice peaceful escape.

7. Palace of Fine Arts: whether or not you are interested in art, the Palace of Fine Arts is a must see. Maybe it is because the style of the building is a beautiful addition to the city. In a classical style, this building stands out and creates some picturesque scenes among the park. It is so popular that so many teens take their prom photos in front of it!

6. Pier 39: this is one of the main tourist destinations in San Francisco. There are plenty of things to see and do, but I like it for the views. You can see the famous San Francisco sea lions or grab a good bite to eat. Or walk along the area for plenty of activities and museums.

5. Fisherman's Wharf: like Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf is a major tourist attraction. From the sea lions to bread bowls, there are plenty of things to enjoy at Fisherman's Wharf. There are also plenty of museums on the wharf too that can entertain people of all ages.

4. Cable Car: what is a visit to San Francisco without at least seeing a cable car? There is a museum to learn more or you can just buy a ticket and hop on board. It's a great way to avoid walking up the steep San Francisco hills and even catch a stunning view from the top.

3. Alcatraz: this amazing prison is always a top destination for tourists and locals. Maybe its the mystery and spookiness surrounding it. Maybe it's the history. But whether or not you're interested in visiting a prison, a visit to the island gives for an amazing view of the city.

2. Coit Tower: up on top of a hill stands this beautiful tower. Not only does it give a fantastic view of the city, but it also is beautifully designed and decorated. A visit to Coit Tower is a must whenever in the city.

1. Golden Gate Bridge: walking along the Golden Gate Bridge seems like a rite of passage almost. On a clear day you get an amazing view of the Bay Area and the city, but even on a foggy day there is something wonderful about it.
