Where to Eat in Helsinki

Trying to figure out what to eat in Helsinki can sometimes be a challenge. Especially if you are on a budget. Trying to navigate culinary Finland is a challenge, but there are some great places to dine. Whether you want fast food, traditional food, or fine dining, Finland has it all. And it specializes in worldly foods. That's right, they love Nepalese food. So here are some of my recommendations for great eats in Helsinki.

Fafa's

This chain is a great place for some fast food and the best kebab you will get in Finland. It is different than traditional kebab, but the food is delicious and affordable. From the halloumi kebab to the sweet potato fries, there's something great for all hours of the day.

Friends and Burgers

Friends and Burgers is a delicious burger joint if you are looking for a burger but don't want to go to McDonalds. They offer a variety of flavorful burgers with great homemade sauces. From grilled onions to mushrooms, there are toppings for everyone.

Saaga

If you are looking for traditional Finnish food, head to Saaga. The prices are a little more expensive but the food is great. They specialize in reindeer and seafood and it is all cooked the traditional way. Head here for an authentic Finnish experience.

Base Camp

If you are looking for some delicious affordable food, try Nepalese food. There are so many Nepalese restaurants in Helsinki and one of the better ones is Base Camp. The food is very similar to Indian food and they offer a variety of different things. If you want flavor and spice, this is for you.

Paulette

This cute cafe has the best lasagne and best salads in Helsinki. It is only open until 4pm but it is a perfect place for lunch or takeaway. You can pick out as many salads as you want and it is worth it to try them all. Try the basilico dressing if you are a fan of basil.

SuBurritos

This restaurant has the best Latin food in Helsinki. If you're missing the spice or want some great food, this is the restaurant for you. But I suggest going for the lunch buffet where you can make your own tacos, nachos, and burritos, all for 10 euros. What a deal!
