The Lux Festival
Lux: A Show of Lights in the Dark City
In January every year is the Lux Festival. As the days are so short and the nights are so dark, people need a little light in their life. So in order to celebrate the middle of winter and the end of the shortening days, the Lux Festival highlights artistry and beautiful architecture in order to rejuvenate the people.
Usually there is some sort of route that they suggest that you take. Each stop on the route is some sort of art instillation using lights. Some project scenes onto the buildings, others create art and display it in the city. Every year the route and the art changes, making it a unique experience for everyone every year.
In 2018, there were quite a few projections that had dancing images across important buildings in Helsinki. It also had a few art installations, but what truly shined were the projections. The experience in general is a great way to get people outside in the dead of winter and enjoy the evening with some light. It is great for people of all ages and it lasts three days. Here are some photos and videos from the event.
