Great European Weekend Trips
Weekend Trips: The Best Cities For a Getaway
If you're living in Europe, travel is quite easy. There are planes and trains that can take you anywhere you want. So every once in a while, it is nice to get away for the weekend and explore a new city. These are some of my favorite destinations to explore on a weekend. I chose them because they are generally easy to get to from anywhere in Europe and are generally affordable. Enjoy!
Budapest
Budapest is a great city because so many different airlines fly there and it is not expensive to stay there. So it is a great weekend trip on a budget. But the city itself is absolutely wonderful. There is something about the city that will just keep you coming back for more. There is so much history and so much beauty, visiting Budapest is a must.
Riga
Not everyone considers the Baltics when traveling but I highly suggest it. Riga is generally very accessible and easy to get to. It is not that expensive in the city and it uses the euro, making it super easy to plan a last minute trip there. The city is beautiful and charming and exactly what you would hope for in a European getaway.
Copenhagen
While this city is not that affordable, it is easily accessible and worth a visit. There are so many things to see and do in Copenhagen, there's something for everyone. And the Danes are so nice and friendly, it just makes your experience that much better.
Bruges
While Brussels is a great trip, it has so much to see and do, it feels like one weekend is just not enough. So instead opt for Bruges where you can easily walk around the city in a day and sit back and relax and enjoy the day. There is food and so much history, but the canals make it so beautiful. Bruges is a city that you will always look back on and want to go back again.
Prague
There's something magical about Prague. It is affordable and easily accessible. But the city is so beautiful. It's the kind of city that you will keep coming back to in hopes of discovering something new. While you can see a lot of the city in a weekend, you're going to want to come back and see more of it as often as possible.
Ljubljana
This hidden gem is becoming more and more popular. And getting there is not as expensive as you would expect. Once there, the city is relatively affordable and absolutely beautiful. From the winding streets and lovely colors to the river and bridges, Ljubljana is just amazing.
Nuremberg
So many German cities make for great European getaways, but Nuremberg is a great option because it is large enough to have its own airport but small enough to see in a weekend. There is so much history in the city that there are plenty of things to do. But its medieval aspect also draws you in with its charm and beauty.
