Bûche de Noël: Also Known as the Yule Log

I have decided that the Bûche de Noël is my favorite French Christmas desert. Its cake and chocolate that comes in a variety of flavors. And its decorated to look like the forest. Pretty cool if you ask me. And don't worry, it's supposed to look like a log. That is why its called a Christmas Log.


A Bûche de Noël is made out of sponge cake, usually vanilla or chocolate. Inside are different creams depending on the favor. The one in the picture had pistachio, vanilla, and passion fruit creams. The outside is typically covered in chocolate flavored buttercream. But the main flavors are chocolate, coffee, praline, and vanilla. And the top is always decorated with some sort of woodsy decoration, such as small trees, plastic animals, and mushrooms. They come in individual sizes and larger sizes to share with family and friends. So its basically just a high quality chocolate cake. And its great!
