Christmas in Paris

Appreciating the Beauty of Christmas in Paris

How can I get homesick when I have I live in such a beautiful city, and that I get to experience its Christmas magic as a Parisian and as a tourist? And even though Paris has a dirty metro, and some pretty disgusting streets, and that there is rarely any daylight during the winter, Paris is truly a beautiful city, especially when lit up with the holiday city. So instead of a usual post where I explain my reasons, just look at the pictures and see for yourself why Christmas in Paris is such a beautiful experience.

Paris is known for being a magically romantic city. Well it turns out that all of that is amplified during Christmas time. Everywhere you can find Christmas trees in front of national monuments. And usually each is blinking, giving some sort of light show for all members of the family to admire.

You can walk down the streets of Champs Elysées and smell amazing food cooking and American Christmas songs playing. I still haven't heard French songs playing. But the famous boulevard is sparkling with lights, such as snowflakes in the trees, twinkling at all times of the day.

You can warm up in a cafe and watch the world go by. Parisians do this at all times of the year, but at least that coffee of hot chocolate will warm you up.

You can explore the city and see which areas have the best Christmas lights. It seems that almost every main street in Paris has some sort of decoration set up. My street has lights every few meters and few Christmas trees in front of the park. And the beautiful decorations are as much for the Parisians as they are for the tourists.

You can go ice skating at l'Hotel de Ville, le Grand Palais, or the Champs Elysées. How many people get to do that? And there's always something about ice skating that screams romance or magic. And even if you're not the ice skating type, its cute watching the little kids skate around the Champs Elysées.

Merry Christmas Eve from Paris!
